Managing Products
Learn how to configure products with add-on groups and options.
Understanding the Structure
Uplift uses a hierarchical structure:
- Products - Your Shopify products
- Add-on Groups - Collections of related options (e.g., "Color Options", "Extra Features")
- Options - Individual choices within a group (e.g., "Red", "Blue", "Green")
Creating Add-on Groups
Basic Group Setup
- Open the Uplift app in your Shopify admin
- Click Create Add-on Group (or + New Group)
- Enter a Group Name (e.g., "Choose Your Color")
- Select a Display Type:
- Swatches - Color/image boxes
- Radio Buttons - Single-select circles
- Checkboxes - Multi-select squares
- Dropdown - Select menu
- Click Create or Save

Adding Options
Creating Options
- Open an existing add-on group
- Click Add Option
- Enter the Option Label (what customers see)
- Configure display settings based on type:
- For swatches: Set color or upload image
- For all types: Add description if needed
- Optionally link a product for pricing
- Save the option
Option Settings

Display Types in Detail
Swatches
Best for visual choices like colors and materials:
- Color Swatches - Set a hex color value (#FF5733)
- Image Swatches - Upload a texture or pattern image
- Supports single selection only
- Can show labels on hover or always
Radio Buttons
Best for mutually exclusive text options:
- Clean, accessible interface
- Single selection only
- Good for sizes, versions, packages
Checkboxes
Best for optional add-ons:
- Multiple selections allowed
- Set minimum/maximum selections
- Great for extras and features
Dropdown
Best for long lists of options:
- Saves space with many options
- Single selection
- Good for sizes, quantities, variations
Assigning Groups to Products
From the Group
- Open the add-on group
- Click Assign Products or Products tab
- Search or browse for products
- Check the products to assign
- Save your selection
From a Product
- In Uplift, go to Products view
- Find and select a product
- Click Add Group
- Select the group(s) to add
- Set the display order if multiple groups
- Save
Managing Display Order
When a product has multiple add-on groups:
- Open the product in Uplift
- View the assigned groups list
- Drag and drop to reorder
- Groups display top to bottom on storefront
- Save the new order
Duplicating Groups
To create a similar group:
- Open the group you want to copy
- Click Duplicate or Copy Group
- Edit the new group's name and settings
- Modify options as needed
- Save the new group
💡 Tip: Duplicating is useful when you need similar options across different product categories with slight variations.
Deleting Groups and Options
Deleting an Option
- Open the add-on group
- Find the option to delete
- Click the delete icon or Remove
- Confirm deletion

- Go to your groups list
- Find the group to delete
- Click Delete
- Confirm deletion
⚠️ Warning: Deleting a group removes it from all assigned products. This cannot be undone.
Best Practices
- Keep groups focused - One group per concept (colors, sizes, extras)
- Use clear labels - Customers should understand options immediately
- Limit options - Too many choices can overwhelm customers
- Set smart defaults - Pre-select the most popular option
- Test on storefront - Always preview changes on your live site
