Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Uplift Product Customizer in under 10 minutes.

Overview

Uplift Product Customizer allows you to add interactive product customization options to your Shopify store. Customers can select colors, add-ons, and upgrades while seeing real-time visual previews of their choices.

Step 1: Install the App

  1. Install Uplift Product Customizer from the Shopify App Store
  2. Approve the required permissions
  3. You'll be redirected to the app dashboard

Step 2: Add the App Blocks to Your Theme

Uplift uses three app blocks that work together:

Block Purpose
Option Controls Displays customization options (swatches, checkboxes, radios, dropdowns)
Canvas Display Shows real-time visual preview of the customized product
Price Display Shows updated pricing as customers make selections

Add the Option Controls Block (Required)

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes
  2. Click Customize on your active theme
  3. Navigate to a Product page template using the page selector
  4. Click Add block in your product information section
  5. Scroll to Apps and select Uplift Option Controls
  6. Position it below the price, above the Add to Cart button
  7. Click Save

Add the Canvas Display Block (Optional)

If you want real-time visual previews:

  1. Click Add block again
  2. Select Uplift Canvas Display from the Apps section
  3. Position it near or above the product gallery
  4. Click Save

Add the Price Display Block (Optional)

If you want dynamic pricing that updates with selections:

  1. Click Add block again
  2. Select Uplift Price Display from the Apps section
  3. Position it near your product price area
  4. Click Save

Step 3: Configure Your First Product

  1. Open the Uplift app from your Shopify admin
  2. Click Manage Add-Ons & Customizations
  3. Search for and select a product from the left sidebar
  4. Click + Create New Add-on Group

Step 4: Create an Add-on Group

  1. Enter a Group Title (e.g., "Choose Your Color")
  2. Select a Display Type:
    • Checkbox Group - Allow multiple selections
    • Radio Buttons - Single selection required
    • Dropdown Menu - Single selection in dropdown format
    • Color Swatches - Visual color/pattern selection
  3. Toggle Required selection if customers must choose an option
  4. Click Save Changes

Step 5: Add Options to Your Group

  1. Click the + button on your new add-on group
  2. Enter an Option Name (e.g., "Red", "Blue", "Green")
  3. Optionally link to a product for inventory tracking and pricing
  4. Upload an option image if using visual customization
  5. Click Add Option
  6. Repeat for additional options

Step 6: Test on Your Storefront

  1. Visit your product page on your live store
  2. You should see your customization options in the Option Controls block
  3. Test selecting different options
  4. Verify the Canvas updates (if configured) and pricing changes
  5. Confirm the add-to-cart works correctly
