Learn how to create, organize, and manage product customizations.

Accessing the Product Manager#

1. Open Uplift from your Shopify admin
2. Click Manage Add-Ons & Customizations
3. The product manager has three main areas:
   • Left Sidebar: Product selector
   • Center Panel: Add-on configuration
   • Right Panel: Customer preview

Selecting a Product#

Using the Search#

1. Click the search box in the left sidebar
2. Type your product name
3. Click on the product to select it

Product List#

• Products with existing configurations show a badge
• Recently edited products appear at the top
• Use filters to find specific products

Creating Add-on Groups#

Add-on groups organize your customization options.

Step 1: Create a New Group#

1. Click + Create New Add-on Group
2. The group editor modal opens

Step 2: Configure Basic Settings#

Group Title (Required)

• What customers see (e.g., "Choose Your Size")
• Keep it clear and descriptive

Description (Optional)

• Additional context for customers
• Appears below the title

Step 3: Choose Display Type#

Type	Best For	Selection
Checkbox Group	Multiple add-ons	Multiple
Radio Buttons	Size/style choices	Single
Dropdown Menu	Many options, compact display	Single
Color Swatches	Visual color/pattern selection	Single

Step 4: Set Requirements#

• Toggle Required selection if customers must choose
• Required groups are marked with an asterisk (*)
• Required radio/swatch groups auto-select the first option

Step 5: Save#

Click Save Changes to create your group.

Adding Options to Groups#

For Checkbox, Radio, and Dropdown Groups#

1. Click the + button on your group
2. Fill in the option details:
   • Option Name: What customers see
   • Option Description: Additional details (optional)
   • Linked Product: Connect to inventory (optional)
   • Option Image: Visual for canvas preview (optional)
3. Click Add Option

Managing Existing Groups#

Reordering Groups#

1. Hover over the drag handle (⋮⋮) on the left of a group
2. Drag up or down to reorder
3. Changes save automatically

Editing a Group#

1. Click the Edit (pencil) icon on the group
2. Make your changes in the modal
3. Click Save Changes

Duplicating a Group#

1. Click the Duplicate icon
2. A copy is created with "(Copy)" appended
3. Edit the copy as needed

Deleting a Group#

1. Click the Delete (trash) icon
2. Confirm the deletion
3. ⚠️ This cannot be undone

Managing Options Within Groups#

Reordering Options#

• Drag options using the handle to reorder
• First option in required groups is auto-selected

Editing Options#

1. Click the option row to open the editor
2. Modify any fields
3. Save your changes

Duplicating Options#

• Click the duplicate icon on an option
• Useful for creating variations

Deleting Options#

• Click the delete icon
• Confirm removal

Collapsing and Expanding Groups#

• Click the group header or chevron to collapse/expand
• Collapsed groups show a summary of options
• Helps manage complex configurations

Copying Configuration Between Products#

Export Configuration#

1. Configure one product completely
2. Use Export Config in the menu
3. Save the JSON file

Import Configuration#

1. Select the target product
2. Use Import Config in the menu
3. Upload your JSON file
4. Adjust product-specific settings

Best Practices#

Group Organization#

• ✅ Lead with the most important choices
• ✅ Group related options together
• ✅ Use clear, concise titles
• ✅ Limit to 5-7 groups per product

Option Naming#

• ✅ Be descriptive but brief
• ✅ Include relevant details (size, color, etc.)
• ✅ Use consistent formatting across products

Required vs Optional#

• ✅ Make critical choices required (size, color)
• ✅ Keep add-ons optional (upgrades, accessories)
• ✅ Don't require too many selections

Saving Your Work#

• Click Save Changes to save all modifications
• The button shows when you have unsaved changes
• Auto-save is not enabled - always save manually!
